BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The showy tubular flowers on the morning glory (I. tricolor) bloom profusely among heart-shaped leaves from midsummer to frost. Flowers open in morning and close in midafternoon, lasting but 1 day each. Blossoms of the species are purplish blue with white throats and red-tipped buds. More commonly grown is the hybrid ‘Heavenly Blue’. Other hybrids and species are white, pink, red, purple, lavender, chocolate, or bi-colored. The twining annual vine climbs to 8 to 10 feet high or long.
